Thistle

The Druid. Curly auburn hair. Super-striking emerald green eyes, which is her tell (remaining in animal form). The land to which she is attuned is The Great Forest. A young halfling woman, learning about the world, studying druid wisdom, seeking self-discovery. She wears a green cloak over hide armor and carries a shillelagh (tagged close, useful for attacking someone a foot or two beyond arm’s length). WIS 16 (+2) / INT 15 (+1) / CHA 13 (+1) / STR 12 (0) / CON 9 (0) / DEX 8 (-1). Max HP: 15. Damage: d6. Alignment: Neutral.

Glit

The Artificer (using this playbook). A young half-elf with off-color pale skin. Very excitable, doesn’t like to slow down. Wants to share “interconnection” with the rest of the world. Carries a staff (close, two-handed) that is infused with the magic item tag Shocking (possessed of a powerful electric charge). Tinkering for an hour or so can change the infusion. It’s an INT move to activate an item you’ve infused. Wears leather armor that is currently infused with Life-leech. “Note that you cannot have more magic item tags infused into a single item than your INT.” GM note: this may make Glit very powerful, as each item he carries can be infused, but there are drawbacks as to time to infuse, amount he can carry, perhaps some items cannot be attuned/infused with magic). Area of Expertise: Elemental Binding. Weapon: Elven (not Alchemist’s) Fire (near, dangerous, 3 ammo, 2 weight). CHA 9 (0) / WIS 9 (0) /STR 9 (0) / CON 10 (0) / INT 13 (+1) / DEX 12 (0). Max HP: 16. Damage: d6. Alignment: Lawful.

Mashito Kan-Jinawa

The Fighter. A lithe, athletic elf with smooth, almond-colored skin. Hair is long, black, sleek, and tied back. Cooly confident eyes. Wears an ouroboros symbol on a necklace. Born in the Eastern Archipelagos. The adopted daughter of a warlord, she trained with the army but resents that she was not accepted as a warrior. The local guild of assassins, as part of a bloody conflict that saw her entire clan die, killed her stepfather by manipulating her relationship to him, and she is thus loathe to trust people. Since then, she has traveled the world as a mercenary, sometimes involved in piracy and sometimes fighting pirates with her swashbuckling samurai style. An embittered drinker, she seeks to restore her honor and absolve her guilt over the plot that killed her stepfather. She wields two swords, her signature weapon(s). Alignment: Neutral.

Bonds and Background

Thistle: “I have showed Glit a secret rite of the Land.”

Glit: “Mashito does not know much about the true nature of magic; I shall enlighten her.”

Mashito: “I have sworn to protect Glit.”

Mashito entered the area to fight off pirates. Glit’s uncle hired Mashito to protect him. Glit has seen Thistle in the forest over the years; she has inspired his energy learning. The second time they met, Thistle recognized his high energy and stepped back a bit in surprise. He’s probably a good guy, she thinks; does he also use tree energy or the magic of The Great Forest?

The Town of Avonia

Surrounded by an impregnable forest, the only way in or out of Avonia is via the river. The river is a tributary to a big sea. The town is cloaked in some way, almost invisible to outsiders.
